The things I have been shamed or bullied for are literally things out of my control. When I was younger I struggled with my weight as I was tiny and now I am a floofy cat people think I am unhealthy.
The issue I have with statements like “you’re too skinny, eat something” or “you’re too big, loose weight” is sometimes its not that easy. There are genetics, medical reasons and outside forces people who say these things don’t know. Sometimes it’s not a choice to be that way. I had a friend who ate massive meals a day to gain weight and never did. This was due to her genetic build.
People are too quick to judge others. Especially in the land of social media, where it is too easy to base someone on their looks rather than what makes them who they are. This is easier said than done but I firmly believe we are all unique and special regardless of how we look, our body shape or event what style we wear. So next time you think about saying something nasty, have a think about how you would feel hearing those words.
Luckily, I have met some incredible people who adore me as I am. This is so special to me as it was not easy to get to be friends with others when I was always the social outcast because I wasn’t their version of pretty. So, to those in my situation just remember that there is someone out there who knows how it feels. If anyone ever needs to talk about it I am here for you and alternately, those who haven’t experienced this; don’t take it for granted. Celebrate who you are because you are special!
The moral of this story is: Respect those around you and understand we are all unique and different. Let’s help celebrate each other and be there for each other. Be kind to yourself and to each other because one day, you will need someone to be there for you.
