Hiya everyone, today I'm going to be talking about something a bit more personal, I hope that's alright. I've been someone my entire life that's generally been quite reserved and didn't say much.
When I was younger I didn't say anything at all unless I was at home with my family, and friendships were something that took me a bit longer than other people because I had to force myself to speak and even then I had to try not to mumble.
I find in the last couple years I've gotten more anxious over my words and speaking to others and fear saying the wrong thing and and always paranoid I'm bothering people or they don't like me.
This makes me really sad because so many people, especially people on here, are so amazing and I'm trying to reach out more to people whether it be having a full conversation or just complimenting them when I get the chance. I understand this is a thing that many others go through and that's why I decided to write about it.
Writing has been the best outlet for me to express myself for as long as I can remember, a way of talking to people and getting my voice out without physically talking and worrying about my voice.
Having such an amazing community of people at Neko Palace I find has been very beneficial for me, it's brought me out of my shell a bit and I am getting a little bit better ever day by talking to other palace pets as well as the community who interact and comment on my articles and social media.
It gives me the confidence to share more of myself and to speak up more and give my thoughts which awhile ago I wouldn't have been able to.
So, how do you enter conversation and friendships when you have social anxiety or are shy with people?
Honestly, I think the best thing is to just do little things and keep building up and doing larger actions. Maybe start with commenting on a post you like, then starting conversations online, compliment someone in public, take your time but start putting yourself out there.
I know it's hard but it's also possible. I didn't think I'd ever be doing something like this and talking to so many people and be part of a community with such amazing people but hey, life is full of surprises.
Quick thank you to everyone of you who has commented on any of my articles or even just said hello to me on instagram or anything, they may seem like little things but they help me a lot and help push me to keep putting myself out there.
Also, if any of you ever need advice or a friend, feel free to leave a comment on my profile or message me on my Instagram which is also on my profile.
