Hiya lovelies, since first being a part of Neko Palace I've seen quite a few people talk about how this site has become one of their first resources to learn about the community. This is super great, and I decided I would run with this and talk a little bit about being new in the community (mainly kitten community but a lot could apply for other pets as well I would assume) and some good resources to better educate yourself!
The community can be quite an intimidating place, especially if you're new. I know for me personally I didn't talk to anyone else in the community until maybe two years after discovering it. As the spaces online have grown and I felt more comfortable, I decided to be more open with my kitten self and soon was introduced to Neko Palace and now we're here, woo!
Obviously though, the general person probably doesn't want to wait a year or two just trying to learn more before stepping into the community. So here are a list of a couple of resources to help all of you beautiful people just entering the community.
#1 Neko Palace!
I mean, obviously if you're seeing this you already know about us. But if you haven't explored through more of the site, I highly recommend it. If you go to articles on the right there area bunch of general categories you can pick from or you can just scroll through the list as a whole.
#2 Members of the community.
I can't speak for everyone, but for me and I'm sure other palace pets, we'd be happy to talk to you if you have any questions, concerns, or are just looking for a friend in the community. My Instagram is @spookynymphet if you ever need someone to talk to in a more private setting. There's also the chat box in the bottom right and the comments of this article for conversation. If there's someone else in the community you look up to and they are comfortable with messages then that can be another option.
Can be a bit of a hit or miss but if you follow the right people and look around you can find some pretty good informational content. Plus, cute gifs that might not be informational but they're cute as heck.
YouTube was the first place I ever learned about the community of kittens that I have now joined. There are so many different kittenplay based YouTubers (as well as other pet types of that's what you're looking for) that make good informational content. Whether you're interested in people's relationship dynamics, history of kittenplay, different gear, etc.
Instagram is another big community space as well as where other people are first introduced the kittenplay. There are some more educational pages you can look for on there but I'd say it's arguably more seeing people in gear and such which is nice if that's something your interested in.
I know how intimidating it can be to first enter any new space so I hope this can be at least a little helpful to you all. Make sure to leave any resources or social medias featuring the community you enjoy below!
